Volunteer
Should I Volunteer?
VoteZip.org asks our volunteers to do everything they can to help a person register; but we expect them to do no more than they are able. Volunteering to help register voters is all about helping people overcome obstacles. Some of the obstacles that people face include:
- Do not know how to register
- Do not know where to register
- Do not know how to fill out a registration form
- Are unable to leave the house or fill out the form, due to disability
- Do not have an envelope or stamp to mail the registration form
- Lack motivation to learn how to register (but would vote if registered)
While some of this might seem trivial, these are real impediments for some people, and they reduce voter turnout. By volunteering, you are offering to make the task of registering easier for anyone who requests assistance. The more you can do to help people overcome these obstacles, the more likely you are to register a greater number of voters. The ways in which you can help include: traveling to meet aspiring voters, assisting them to complete and submit registration forms correctly, and carrying extra envelopes and stamps. But volunteers are only asked to commit to what they are able. Any help that you can offer, no matter how small, will help to maximize voter participation in 2008.
Thank you for volunteering! Please fill out the form below to sign up.
