VoteZip.org's Donation Policy
VoteZip.org only accepts $2.00 donations.
The $2.00 denomination represents the network built between the groups of volunteers and new voters. But it is far more than a mere symbolic gesture.
As a grassroots organization, it is important that each volunteer or registrant who chooses to donate to VoteZip.org, regardless of economic status, has an equal share in the organization. Placing the organization's finances directly in the hands of the people will ensure that VoteZip.org is always serving the interests of the people. Our finances should always reflect the confidence that our performance inspires. If at any time VoteZip.org cannot inspire volunteers and registrants to part with $2, this will be a clear signal that we are not serving the people who require our services, and will prompt us to make changes accordingly.
We will never solicit more than $2. From time to time, VoteZip.org may find opportunities to make our presence known through marketing and advertising campaigns in regions of the country where voter registration and participation are particularly low. In these instances, we will send out emails to volunteers and participants stating exactly why we are soliciting donations, where the money will go, and how much it will cost.
We do this for two reasons. First, transparency in our financial dealings will ensure that we spend responsibly. Second, we have a pool of talent in our volunteers and participants that would be foolish to overlook. Everyone is invited to review the business or marketing plans we submit, and provide feedback on how we might be more financially efficient and more effective in achieving our goals.
The bottom line is that VoteZip.org takes its grassroots foundation very seriously, and understands that widespread popular participation and accountability in our finances is the only way to remain true to these principles.
